| Item | Approach |
|---|---|
| Pages and blog posts | Wix blog posts cannot be exported to other platforms, so posts and pages are copied across and checked one by one. CMS collections export to CSV. Pages are recreated under Online Store and Pages. |
| Products | Wix Stores exports products and their data to a CSV file, up to 5,000 rows per file. Digital products cannot be exported. Products load by CSV import; Shopify's Store Migration app is in early access for some stores. |
| Images and files | Downloaded from the old site, uploaded again and relinked in the content. |
| Page addresses | Shopify URL redirects point old addresses at new pages, although /products and /collections are fixed paths. |
| Page titles and descriptions | Carried across page by page so search results keep showing accurate titles and summaries. |
| Forms and integrations | Rebuilt on the new platform and tested end to end, including where each submission is delivered. |
| Risk | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| Search rankings move after the switch. | Map every old address to its new page with permanent redirects, as Google's site move guidance describes. |
| Wix blog posts do not export to another platform. | Allow time to copy and check each post, and keep the Wix site live until the new one is checked. |
| Products with more than three options lose those options on import. | Restructure option-heavy products before importing them. |
| Reviews cannot be migrated into Shopify from WooCommerce or Wix. | Plan a review app and decide how existing reviews will be shown. |
| A Wix product export does not match Shopify's product CSV template. | Rename the columns to Shopify's headers, clean up product handles, convert weights and remove extra columns before importing, as Shopify's Wix migration guide describes. |
Some movement is normal after any site move. Google's site move guidance centres on mapping every old address to its new page with permanent redirects, which is the main safeguard.[1]
